Manchester United Not ManU

Manchester United Not ManU

On the 15th July last year, I wrote a post on how Manchester United should not be refereed to as ManU and gave the reasons why. This blog post has become the most searched for on my blog and I have received many emails from Man United supporters and other clubs supporters saying thanks for the information.

I thought that it would be a good time to re post it (with a few changes), so here it is.

Many Manchester United supporters (mainly the younger ones and the glory supporters) do not know that ManU is considered as an offensive word.
The term ManU or Man Yoo is an insult which is chanted by rival fans who want to insult and offend Manchester United and the supporters.

It all stemmed from a chant from West Brom fans who sung this:

“Duncan Edwards is manure, rotting in his grave, man you are manure- rotting in your grave”.

Other rival supporters (including Leeds and Liverpool fans) made their own versions of the chant:

“Man U Man U went on a plane Man U Man U never came back again”

and

“Man U Never Intended Coming Home” – combine the first letter of each word and you will see that is spells out MUNICH.

Not all rivals supporters who say ManU know the origin of the word and I believe that every football fan should be educated on the real reason of why we get offended.

Curious then that your recommended link for "football betting" refers to "Man U".

As stated before, my anti Manchester United website does not condone inhumane comments refered to in this post, despite carrying the "manu" reference.

Thanks for your comment antimanu, I did know that but because that is a paid link which had to go up on the date specified, I had to get the owners permission (which I now have) to change it.
